Extreme heat advisory in effect until 8 p.m. Thursday

An extreme heat wave impacting all of Vermont is expected to break 8 p.m. Thursday.

The National Weather Service in Burlington said temperatures peaked at 102 degrees, with the warmest weather between noon and 6 p.m. Thursday.

The break in temperatures, with cooler weather expected on Friday, ends a weeklong heat wave.
