“Flashdance — the Musical” brings the movie phenomenon to Rutland

Sunday, Nov. 29 at 2 p.m. — RUTLAND — Based on the smash hit movie, “Flashdance – The Musical” is now live on stage and making a stop at Rutland’s Paramount Theatre on Sunday, Nov. 29 at 2 p.m. Tickets ($44.50 – $49.50) are available at the venue box office located at 30 Center Street in historic downtown Rutland. With electrifying dance at its core, “Flashdance – The Musical” tells the inspiring story of Alex Owens, a Pittsburgh mill welder by day and a club dancer by night. Through rousing choreography and stunning dance moves, the story of her dreams of one day becoming a professional performer ignites the stage. When romance with her steel mill boss threatens to complicate her ambitions, Alex learns the meaning of love and its power to fuel the pursuit of her dream.

With 16 hot new songs and a score that features the biggest hit songs from the movie, “Flashdance – The Musical” includes the Academy Award-winning title song “Flashdance – What a Feeling,” “Maniac,” “Gloria,” “Manhunt” and “I Love Rock & Roll.” The smart and sexy musical features a book by Tom Hedley, co-writer of the original screenplay and Robert Cary.
