Florence L. “Flossie” McDonnell, age 86

Florence L. “Flossie” McDonnell, 86, of Pittsford, Vt. and formerly of Stockbridge, died Tuesday evening, Sept. 15, 2015, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.

She was born May 15, 1929 in Gaysville, Vt., the daughter of Royal and Carrie (Garrett) Luce. She attended Stockbridge Common School and graduated from Whitcomb High School in 1948. Florence was married to Edward J. McDonnell in Bethel on April 9, 1949. She had worked at the Killington Ski Shack for 32 years and played with the Old Time Fiddlers for 25 years. She enjoyed playing golf in Rochester, fishing and camping with her family.

Florence is survived by her sons, Dale McConnell of Hancock, Terry McDonnell of Mendon, and Chris McDonnell of Woodstock, plus six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband in 1999, and her siblings: Richard Luce, Clinton Luce, Marion Whitcomb, Lettie Fifield, Eva Manning, Cora Hunt, and Wanda Boutwell.

Graveside memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at the Pittsfield Village Cemetery, with Pastor Beverly Anderson officiating. There are no calling hours.
