Get your amateur radio license in two hours

Monday, Jan. 13 at 6:30 p.m.—WEST RUTLAND—The Green Mountain Wireless Society, Rutland County’s amateur radio club, is offering an introductory amateur radio licensing class. Get your introduction to a fun hobby at NeighborWorks of Western Vermont, 110 Marble St. in West Rutland. A series of weekly sessions began Monday, Jan. 6, and will continue for 11 Mondays.

Classes run from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m and at the end of the class, students will be ready to take and pass the Technician Class license exam. You do not need to learn Morse Code to get a license.

The class is a good way to learn about electricity, electronics, physics, earth science and other STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) subjects. It also  leads to a fun hobby as you can talk to the world via amateur radio or talk to your ham friends locally.
