Green Mountain Athletic Hall of Fame class of 2015 announced

POULTNEY. – Green Mountain College is excited to announce its 2015 class for its annual Athletics Hall of Fame induction ceremony which will be held during Alumni and Family Weekend from Sept. 25-27. The event is open to the public. This year the selection committee is proud to induct three individuals:Women’s basketball player Julie Littlefield (’96) will be joined by skiing alumni Marcus Pupp (‘02) and Erika Söderström (‘03). Littlefield joins recent basketball inductees Sarah Allen (’03) and Erica Knolhoff (’03), while Pupp’s and Söderström’s inclusion into the Hall make four entries for skiers in the last four years, joining Peter Lundvall (’02) and Daniel Gustafsson (’02).

Julie Littlefield was an offensive force for the Eagles during her tenure at Green Mountain. The talented guard ranks second on the all-time scoring list at GMC just two points shy of the leading mark. Littlefield’s scoring ability and shooting accuracy helped lead her teams to four consecutive Mayflower Championship appearances and a trip to the national tournament in 1992-93.

Marcus Pupp was a four-year mainstay on Green Mountain’s very talented men’s ski team from 1999-2002 where his main competition came from his own teammates. His impressive collection of top ten finishes ranks among the best at GMC. His performances helped the ski team claim several podium finishes at the USCSA National Championships and led to nine separate post-season awards including his 2001 ECSC All-Thompson Division Skier of the Year.

Erika Söderström was a force to be reckoned with on the ski slopes for the Eagles, not just for her success, but also for her toughness and tenacity. She posted over 25 career victories and over 30 podium finishes. She was a member of three ECSC Thompson Division Championship teams and was twice the number one overall skier within the division as well as earning Skier of the Year distinction in 2000 and 2003.
