Sunday, Dec. 6 at 12 p.m.—RUTLAND—Children and kids-at-heart will get to meet Dr. Seuss’s meanest and greenest creation when the Grinch himself visits Phoenix Books Rutland on Sunday, Dec. 6 at 12 p.m. All ages are welcome to bring a camera and get a photo taken with the Grinch. The event will also launch Phoenix Books’ annual food drive, and attendees are invited to grow their hearts three sizes by bringing a nonperishable donation for the local food shelf.  Phoenix Books owner Mike DeSanto will match community members’ donations.

Phoenix Books launched its first food drive on Nov. 30, 2014 with popular “Meet the Grinch” events at both Phoenix Books Essex and Burlington. DeSanto pledged to make a cash donation equal to the value of food donated to the bookstore’s food drive. With the help of the community, Phoenix Books met its goals in both the Burlington and Essex stores, and in January 2015, DeSanto sent off two checks for $2,500 each to the Chittenden Emergency Food Shelf and the Essex-Jericho-Underhill Ecumenical Food Shelf.

Phoenix’s 2015 “Meet the Grinch” events will take place at all three Phoenix Books locations. The Rutland event will be held Sunday. All events are free and open to the public.
