Local student nominated for presidential scholars program

POULTNEY—Madeline Morse, a Stafford Technical Center senior from Poultney High School, has been selected as one of five career technical education students in the state of Vermont as a nominee for the U.S. Department of Education’s Presidential Scholars in Career and Technical Education.

The program was created by executive order of President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1964.

Morse was nominated by her chef instructor Lisa Fennimore. Jay Ramsey, state director of Career and Technical Education (CTE), commented that the selection committee felt Morse “exemplified outstanding scholarship and skills” in her CTE program.

Morse is a second-year student at Stafford in the culinary arts program and was recently accepted to Johnson & Wales University, Providence, R.I., where she will continue to study in the field of culinary arts.
