Man killed in dumpster accident

SOUTH ROYALTON—A waste management employee died Wednesday, Feb. 5, after he was trapped underneath a dumpster outside a South Royalton restaurant, according to police.

Kenny Greenslit, 57, of Granville, was working in the parking lot of the Worthy Burger restaurant on 56 Rainbow St. around 1 p.m. when he got trapped, Royalton police wrote in a news release.

South Royalton firefighters, Royalton police and the South Royalton Rescue Squad responded to the scene and tried to free Greenslit. He was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.

Greenslit, was an employee with A.B.L.E. Waste, based in Plymouth, Vermont, which owned the dumpsters, according to police.

Royalton police are still investigating the incident. It is unknown how Greenslit got trapped under the dumpster, but authorities believe it was accidental.
