MAPLE JAM

Thursday, Aug. 13 at 7 p.m. — FAIR HAVEN — Fair Haven’s final concert in the 2015 summer series is a cappella group Maple Jam, new to the Fair Haven stage this year, on Thursday, Aug. 13 at 7 p.m. Maple Jam is Vermont’s own a cappella jazz octet specializing in close-harmony vocal arrangements of sweet love songs and swinging big band favorites. With their trademark rich blend of voices and smooth jazz harmonies, their repertoire ranges from classic jazz, bebop, and swing to sultry tangos and love songs to warm a winter’s night.

Formed in 2004 by members of the Vermont Symphony Orchestra chorus, the group has delighted audiences at numerous venues around Vermont (and Québec and Ontario). Over the years, they have condensed their sound to produce the richest, purest grade “A” fancy harmonies possible. In addition to performing for standing room only crowds at the Burlington Discover Jazz Festival, Maple Jam has appeared at New Year’s Eve celebrations in Burlington, Montpelier and Bristol, Farmers’ Night at the Statehouse, the Brick Church Music Series, Brandon Music, and more.

Members of Maple Jam are: sopranos Karen Chickering and Alexandra Tursi, altos Vikki Day and Clara Cavitt, tenors Jeff Prescott and Maarten van Ryckevorsel. Maarteen also does vocal percussion. Andy Warner is the baritone and Jose Schmidt sings bass.
