Paramount screens “The Hangmen” in encore presentation

Saturday, April 2 at 2 p.m. — RUTLAND — Live in HD from the National Theatre of Great Britain continues on the big screen at the Paramount Theatre with “The Hangmen” on Saturday, April 2 at 2 p.m. This encore presentation follows a sell-out run at London’s Royal Court Theatre. The play was written by Academy Award® winner Martin McDonough (“The Pillowman,” “The Cripple of Inishmaan”) and directed by Matthew Dunsterk in an award-winning production of McDonough’s funny new play.

In his small pub in the northern English town of Oldham, Harry (David Morrissey – “The Walking Dead,” “State of Play”) is something of a local celebrity. But what’s the second-best hangman in England to do on the day they’ve abolished hanging?

Amongst the club reporters and pub regulars dying to hear Harry’s reaction to the news, his old assistant Syd (Andy Nyman – “Peaky Blinders,” “Death at a Funeral”) and the peculiar Mooney (Johnny Flynn – “Clouds of Sils Maria”) lurk with very different motives for their visit.

Doors open for seating at 1:30 p.m. Tickets, $20 are available at the Box Office at 30 Center Street, Rutland; 802-775-0903; www.ParamountVT.org; or at the door.
