Phil and Joy Black of the Lookout Tavern receive honor

KILLINGTON – The Killington Pico Area Association (KPAA) officially announced the 2019 Member of the Year, Phil and Joy Black, owners of the Lookout Tavern.

As part of the KPAA’s Vermont Holiday Festival, on Thursday night, Dec. 5, during their Holiday Party and Mixer, the organization’s Executive Director Mike Coppinger presented Phil and Joy with this year’s award. The KPAA operates as the Killington Area’s Chamber of Commerce and has begun making this acknowledgement every year at the annual holiday festival.

Coppinger said, “We feel that it’s important to recognize members/business owners that go above and beyond to make our community a special place to live, work and play. Phil and Joy were a unanimous choice of the Board of Directors. They have given back so much to the community over their years in business that we felt this was a much-deserved award.”

The Blacks have owned and operated the Lookout Tavern for almost 20 years. In that same time, Phil has served on the Board of Directors for the KPAA and its executive committee for over 15 years. Phil was instrumental in securing the location that would prove to be the long-term home for the KPAA and the Region’s Welcome Center.
