During a recent weekly training, Killington Search and Rescue prepared for a scenario with a missing 9-year-old boy who was last seen at the trailhead on the Sherburne Trail. For the drill, KSAR sent out one K9 team and a support team to search an adjacent area. Murray Mcgrath’s K9 “Balou” located the subject in a cave between a logging road and the trail. The subject was provided medical care and was carried off the mountain in a litter.

A word to the wise: stay on marked trails

KILLINGTON—On Saturday, Dec. 13, at about 1:30 p.m., the Vermont State Police, Rutland Barracks, received information about three skiers who went out of bounds at Pico Mountain. Together with Killington Ski Patrol they were able to make contact with the skiers and identify their location. The skiers were able to make their way out of the woods safely and without any injuries. Vermont State Police would like to remind skiers to stay on marked trails.
