Prom fashion: Slim-fit tuxedos, camo vests, bling and ballet

By Robin Alberti

Tuxedos come in different fits, ranging from loosest to tightest, boys can choose “relaxed,” “standard,” “fashion,” or “skinny” styles, explained Mary Godrick Sherowski of Body Gears/Penguin Jack’s. Camouflage/redneck patterns are also in, she said, pointing to a “Mossy Oak” pattern, and this year they’ve rented many more vests than cumberbuns, she said.

For the girls, “bling is in,” rhinestones and sequins continue to be popular and this year the ballet style dresses has been trending, too, she added. (Ballet style features a fitted thin-strapped top with a tulle skirt.)

Like Trace of Lace and other local shops, Body Gears/Penguin Jack’s keeps track of which proms the girls are attending, so as not to sell the exact same dress to two girls at the same prom.
