The Ricochet Duo presents “Wired” at Brandon Music

Saturday, Nov. 5 at 7:30 p.m.—BRANDON—Ricochet Duo, the collaboration between pianist Rose Chancler and percussionist Jane Boxall, perform at Brandon Music Nov. 5 at 7:30 p.m. Their program “Wired!” is a new electroacoustic and minimalist concert program that explores the crossover between classical and popular styles, emphasizing rhythm and the interlocking of piano and marimba sounds. The duo will perform works by Joshua Clausen, Paul Elwood, Marc Mellits, Steve Reich, John Psathas, Teresa Procaccini, Hilary Tann, among others.
Chancler and Boxall joined forces to form Ricochet Duo in 2008 after Chancler advertised on Craigslist: “Seeking classical musicians for collaboration.” Since their debut on the Piano by Nature series in upstate New York, they have been actively performing throughout the United States. Ricochet Duo has performed at Indiana University Pennsylvania, Vermont’s Flynn Center for the Performing Arts, the Chautauqua Institution, Lake Placid Center for the Arts, Eastman School of Music, Tribeca Performing Arts Center, Proctor’s Theater in Schenectady (N.Y.), Plattsburgh State University of New York, the historic Hand House in Elizabethtown (N.Y.) and for the Summer Events at Salisbury Congregational UCC in Vermont.
Ricochet Duo is dedicated to celebrating the music of the 21st century and actively promotes and commission works by living composers. In 2009, Ricochet was awarded a New York Women Composer’s grant for three new works by composers Rain Worthington, Joelle Wallach, and Faye-Ellen Silverman. They have crafted multiple programs over the course of their collaboration, ranging from a program of music by women composers to a broad-ranging selection of ragtime and tango music, as well as a tribute to the late Adirondack conservationist, self-proclaimed woodswoman, author, and friend Anne LaBastille.
Concert tickets are $20. A pre-concert dinner is available for $25. Reservations are recommended for the show and required for dinner. Venue is BYOB. Call 802-247-4295 or email info@brandon-music.net for reservations or for more information. Brandon Music is located at 62 Country Club Road, Brandon.
