Rutland is 61 lbs overweight

The Center for Disease Control reports that approximately 93.3 million women and men live with obesity and that amount has shown no signs of falling. Closer to home, the United States is rated one of the top 20 “heaviest” states by the World Health Organization.

Obesity is a growing problem and since the problem develops so do the costs associated with obesity.  It’s estimated that between $3.38 and $6.38 billion in productivity is lost due to obesity.

In hopes of educating on a local scale, Dietspotlight anonymously collected data from women and men going to the website via a search for weight loss products such as detox teas, diet pills, fat burners, along with others.

After being collected and categorized, it gave them a fantastic look into the condition of obesity on a county level across the U.S.

Rutland County, as a whole, stands at about 61 pounds overweight.  That’s 13 percent higher than the average of 54 pounds in Vermont and 4 percent higher than the U.S. average of 59 pounds.

In Rutland County, the average man looking to find help losing weight is 47 years old, weighs approximately 218 pounds and measures a body mass index (BMI) of 33.  His female counterpart is 44 years old, measures a BMI of 32 and weighs in at about 191 pounds.

Every year, more than 30 million people browse Dietspotlight.  By publishing well-researched content aimed at helping women and men live their best lives, the business intends to promote the continuing education of visitors.

This procedure utilizes a medical review board dedicated to the cause.

The committee is constituted of nutrition professionals and doctors.  Members of the inspection board include Anthony Dugarte MD; Erin Peisach RDN; Natalie Rizzo MS; and Danielle Omar RDN.
