Rutland Meals Challenge aims to strike out hunger at Rutland Bowlerama

Friday, June 26 at 7 p.m. — RUTLAND — The Rutland Meals Challenge will be holding its first fundraiser of the year in anticipation of its biggest meal packaging event yet. On Friday, June 26 at 7 p.m., an all ages “Strike Out Hunger” bowling party is scheduled at the Rutland Bowlerama on South Main Street (Route 7), Rutland. Entry is $15 per person and includes two games, shoe rentals and snacks. There will be door prizes, a 50/50 raffle, and a prize for the best bowling score. Participants are also asked to collect donations from their friends, coworkers and neighbors for a chance to win additional prizes.

To RSVP and get a donation pledge form, email saralongworth@gmail.com or register at vtmealschallenge.wordpress.com before June 20.

Since 2013, the Rutland Meals Challenge, sponsored by Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Rutland, has packaged over 75,000 macaroni and cheese, and rice and bean meals which were distributed to Rutland County food shelves and the Vermont Food Bank. The group is hoping to raise $12,500 this year in order to package 50,000 meals in January, 2016.
