EMILY MURE

Saturday, May 16 — BRANDON — Classically informed singer-songwriter Emily Mure makes a welcome return to Brandon Music on Saturday, May 16 at 7:30 p.m. Her previous appearance with her trio wowed the audience with its virtuoso mix of folk and classical sounds. This concert follows a songwriting workshop Emily is leading at the Compass Music and Arts Center from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. earlier that day, open to musicians of all levels. Sign up for the workshop by May 14 at 802-247-4295; cost is $35.

Emily sings her introspective songs with a smoky voice reminiscent of Mazzy Star and Norah Jones. She integrates her classical roots and composition techniques with her folk- and Irish-inspired singing and songwriting, which she first fell for while attending Ithaca College and  fully developed from her time spent in Ireland as a busker on the streets of Galway.

Currently, Emily performs around the Northeast, solo and with her chamber-folk trio (Audrey Q Snyder on cello and Emily DiAngelo on oboe and English horn). In the past few years, Emily has developed a strong passion for teaching. In addition to performing and touring, she also offers private guitar and songwriting lessons, and songwriting workshops at high schools, universities and locally around her community in Brookline, Mass.

Concert tickets are $15. Venue is BYOB. Brandon Music is located at 62 Country Club Road, Brandon. For more info, visit www.cmacvt.org.
