Statement from David Zuckerman on primary win

We did it! Yesterday, we won the Democratic gubernatorial primary and brought Vermont one step closer to enacting innovative economic policies to lift up working families and protect our environment.

I want to thank all of the Vermonters who voted for me, all of those who supported and donated, and all of the volunteers and my staff for putting in countless hours to make this happen. This would not have happened without you!

Our strong victory yesterday is a sign of amazing things to come.

Vermonters understand that as we look toward emerging from this crisis—we must lead in a new way. We must lead in a creative way. We must lead in an inclusive and innovative way. Because if we only focus on what is happening right now, we will miss opportunities to build a stronger, better, and safer Vermont.

Now, we begin the hard work of bringing that message to all Vermonters—especially those that have fallen through the cracks in our current system and because of the toll that COVID has had on our economy.

But it will not be easy. We are facing an incumbent Republican Governor who is being bankrolled by national Republican donors. Just this week the Republican Governors Association (RGA) released another ad here in Vermont. Which is why we need your continued support now more than ever.

With early voting for November’s general election beginning in less than six weeks, we have no time to lose to bring our shared progressive vision to all voters and grow our movement for change.
