The Carving Studio and Sculpture Center in West Rutland welcomes teens to apply for the Stone Bench Project this year. Deadline for applications is June 10.
WEST RUTLAND—The Carving Studio and Sculpture Center invites youth ages 13-18 from the Rutland area to participate in an exciting, collaborative project for two weeks this summer. Under the instruction of master sculptor Nora Valdez, participants will design and carve a stone bench, to be installed in a Rutland area town.
This is the eighth year of the Stone Bench Project. The functional public art sculptures that are created become a point of pride for their makers and the communities where they are placed. Teamwork, skills building and cultural/historical appreciation are among the benefits experienced by participants.
