Sunday, Sept. 4 at 5:30 p.m.—ROCHESTER—Sunday, Sept. 4 marks the last reading of the Joan Hutton Landis Summer Reading Series at BigTown Gallery in Rochester, with poet Sydney Lea and novelist Sue Miller sharing the podium at 5:30 p.m.
Poet laureate of Vermont from 2011 to 2015, Lea has published 12 collections. The latest, “No Doubt the Nameless,” is published by Four Way Books. His collection of essays, “What’s the Story? Reflections on a Life Grown Long,” has lately been published by Vermont’s Green Writers Press. Active in literacy and conservation, Lea lives in Newbury, Vt.
Sue Miller has written a collection of short stories, a memoir, and 10 novels, including “While I Was Gone,” “The Good Mother,” and “The Senator’s Wife.” Her latest, “The Arsonist,” was published in June 2014. Her work has been widely translated and published in 22 countries. Her awards include a Guggenheim Fellowship, the Carl Sandburg Prize, and the Kate Chopin Prize; she has been short-listed for a National Book Critics Circle Award and long-listed for The Orange Prize. Miller has taught fiction at Amherst, Bennington, Tufts, Smith, and MIT, and lives in Cambridge, Mass.
