Swing Noire invokes gypsy jazz at Tinmouth’s Old Firehouse

Friday, Sept. 11 at 7:30 p.m. — TINMOUTH — Call it what you may — gypsy jazz, hot swing, jazz manouche. In any case, Swing Noire invokes the energy of a swingin’ jazz club and transports audiences back to the early days of jazz with their unique take on hot swing. It’s a little different show for the Old Firehouse in a country village, but the size and acoustics are perfect for gypsy jazz. The fun begins at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 11.

Swing Noire brings great energy, soul, sophistication, and improvisation, making seeing them live an unforgettable treat. Out of the woodshed and onto the New England music scene, these four fine musicians make up Vermont’s hottest acoustic, hot club-style quartet. The band features violinist David Gusakov (of the Will Patton Quintet, Pine Island, and the Vermont Symphony Orchestra), twins Rob and Jim McCuen on solo guitar and double bass, and rhythm guitarist Jared Volpe.

The Old Firehouse is at 7 Mountain View Road just off  Vt. 140 in downtown Tinmouth. Doors will open at 7 p.m. There is a suggested donation of $10. Homemade desserts, coffee and tea will be available; donations will help support community activities.
