Two young professionals appointed assistant directors of REDC

RUTLAND—Rutland Economic Development Corporation (REDC) Executive Director Lyle Jepson announced Dec. 29 the appointments of Sara Gilbert and Tyler Richardson as assistant directors of REDC.

Gilbert was most recently the director of business development at NeighborWorks of Western Vermont, a homeownership nonprofit and community lender, where she oversaw marketing and community outreach. Gilbert also worked as a planner for the Rutland Regional Planning Commission, where she supported town planning, hazard mitigation, and regional transportation initiatives. Gilbert is a former volunteer with the Rutland Creative Economy and a founding board member of Rutland Young Professionals. Vermont Business Magazine named her a 2014 Vermont Rising Star. At REDC, she will develop strategic initiatives focused on business growth, retention and employee recruitment.

Tyler Richardson joins REDC after seven years as administrative services director for the Nebraska REALTORS® Association, where he was responsible for membership communications, planning, and outreach, including social media marketing. He also worked for the League of Human Dignity and Woodmen Accident & Life Company, both of Lincoln, Neb. Richardson is also a member of the Rutland Young Professionals. At REDC, he will market economic opportunity in the Rutland Region and will focus on business site location, incubator development and financing opportunities.

“Sara and Tyler bring passion, energy and expertise that will be invaluable as REDC pursues its vision, which is to make Rutland County the most collaborative, innovative and friendly place in Vermont to live, work, play and grow a business,” Jepson said.

REDC will soon co-locate with Castleton University at Castleton Downtown, 67 Merchants Row in Rutland. Jepson said the reduced overheads from the co-location facilitated the hiring and will translate into enhanced service to the Rutland Region’s current and future businesses.
