VINS presents Paddle and Picnic event: a Kayak Tour to Gilman Island

Friday, July 8, at 5 p.m. — QUECHEE — The Vermont Institute of Natural Science (VINS) invites adventure-seeking adults, 21 and above, to join VINS naturalists and L.L. Bean instructors for a guided kayak tour on the serene waters of the Connecticut River on Friday, July 8, from 5 to 8:30 p.m.

Discover helpful paddling pointers and scout the shoreline for the diverse birds that call this river habitat home. Enjoy a savory, relaxing dinner outdoors on Gilman Island, and then watch the sunset on the paddle home. VINS is delighted to be partnering with L.L. Bean to provide you with a guided paddle, a delicious meal, and an overall beautiful evening on the water.

VINS Kayak Tour to Gilman Island is $60 for VINS members and $65 for non-members. Participants will meet at 5 p.m. at the L.L. Bean Outdoor Discovery School, Kilowatt South Park, 61 Passumpsic Ave., in Wilder, Vt. A kayak, a personal flotation device (life jacket) and paddling equipment will be provided. All participants are required to wear personal flotation devices when on the water with VINS-sponsored activities. In the event of severe weather, this event will be rescheduled for the following evening, Saturday, July 9. Pre-register by Friday, July 1at 802-359-5001, ext. 245 or vinsweb.org.
