Viola Higgins retrospective opens in Mount Holly

Friday, Aug. 19 at 6 p.m.—MOUNT HOLLY—The Mount Holly Art Group will host a retrospective exhibit of commercial and fine art from the 1940s to the present by Viola Higgins. The exhibit will open on Friday, Aug. 19 at 6 p.m. at the Mount Holly Community Center, 26 Maple Hill Road in Belmont.
Higgins was encouraged to develop her talent by a grade school teacher and after high school she apprenticed at Lawrence Studios in New York City,which created specialized in advertising art. She worked as a freelance artist specializing in children’s and women’s fashions for newspapers and advertising agencies in the Big Apple.
Meet and chat with Viola Higgins about the evolution of her art and the role of women in the art field during the last half century. The exhibit will run through Labor Day.
