Woman arrested for allegedly embezzling $8,000 from church

HARTLAND—On May 12 Vermont State Police arrested 46-year-old Tamara Ross of Hartland, Vt., for embezzlement. Ross was the treasurer for the First Universalist Society Church, located at 8 Brownsville Road in the town of Hartland. The president of the church noticed anomalies in the church’s budget, which sparked an investigation. The Investigation concluded that Ross had embezzled nearly $8,000 from the First Universalist Society Church, and she was subsequently arrested. Ross is scheduled to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Windsor Criminal Division, on June 28, 2016, to answer to the charge of embezzlement.
