Friday, Aug. 19, at 4 p.m.—WOODSTOCK—An artist’s reception will be held Friday, Aug. 19, at 4 p.m. for artist Laurel Tobiason at the Norman Williams Public Library, 10 The Green, Woodstock. Tobiason works in watercolor, ink, and pastel; her technique frequently uses all three. She relies on travel and photographing around New England to supply images for her watercolors. Gardens provide inspiration for her floral works. A Vermont native who grew up in the Woodstock area, Laurel is self-taught in art and photography. She has worked in the fields of horticulture and forestry for 36 years and is an avid outdoorswoman. She lives in Barnard with her husband Erik, who makes the frames for her paintings. The exhibit,“Under-glass: The Work of Laurel Vail Tobiason,” will run from  Aug. 16-Sept. 30.
