Youth theater holds open auditions

Sunday & Monday, Sept. 25-26—RUTLAND—Rutland Youth Theatre is holding open auditions for “The King and I” on Sunday and Monday, Sept. 25 and 26 at the old Courcelle Building in Rutland.
Produced by Saskia Hagen Groom and directed by Mikki Lane, “The King and I” tells the classic story of East meets West in 1862 in a dramatic, richly textured and ultimately uplifting tale of enormous fascination. An English widow is ordered by the King of Siam to tutor his many wives and children and to assist in changing his barbaric image. Each develop an understanding and eventually respect for one another in a truly unique love story.
Auditions will be held on Sept. 25, 2-5 p.m. and Sept. 26, 6-9 p.m. at the old Courcelle Building, Rutland Recreation Department on 16 North Street Extension, Rutland. Choose one audition date only. Rehearsals will be scheduled for Tuesdays, 6-9 p.m., Thursdays, 5-7:30 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays, 2-5 p.m.
Students in grades k-12 may audition. No preparation or experience is required. One does not need to be a resident of Rutland County.
